Sr Staff Physical Design Engineer - Power Analysis
This position is for a key role within the Engineering team for Marvell’s best in class ThunderX 64-bit ARMv8 Server Processor family.
The ThunderX product family offers an unprecedented level of integration and industry leading SoC performance designed to accelerate adoption for Arm servers in mainstream cloud and high performance computing deployments.
Marvell is disrupting the high end server market by delivering high performance ARM processors to the industry.
We are looking for motivated individuals to join our physical design team as we expand the ARM processor product line into higher frequencies and lower process technologies. The complexity of the FINFET triple pattern technology combined with the power of the latest EDA tools requires an innovator that is an experts on the EDA tools, understand the fundamentals of circuit design, aware of foundry design rules, participate in microarchitecture discussions, and have solid programming skills.
Responsibilities:
• Develop the methodology and implement to calculate the power of high end server class processor chips in the finfet process
• Analyze the power reports and work with the front end team to identify microarchitectural changes to reduce power
• Evaluate the switching vectors with the front end team to insure appropriate stimulus conditions are being applied used for proper analysis
• Create a chip power model to estimate power across PVT an work with marketing to align with customer frequency and power requirements
Requirements:
• Prior experience with power analysis on chips in finfet process, preferably on high frequency, high power designs with multiple power domains
• Basic understanding of microarchitectural concepts, ability to read verilog and simulation
• Familiar with power saving techniques used in the physical design flow
• Proficiency with Spice and/or any fast simulator and hands-on power verification using spice
• Working knowledge of P&R implementation in finfet processes
• Proficiency using Perl/Python, TCL, Make scripting, calibre coding.

Education:
• MSEE 8+ years’ experience or BSEE with 10+ years related experience
