Marvell is rapidly growing its SSD Storage business with innovative new controllers, software development kits & full turn-key firmware offerings.  As part of this growth, we are looking for a Lead Firmware Security Technical Lead / Manager to support our worldwide firmware development team.



What You Will Be Doing

The Firmware Test Architect will oversee, guide, recommend, proposed and develop the test and simulation plans for the Firmware Test Engineering Organization as well as the Firmware Development Organization in regards to unit test design and development.

• Our Test Architect needs to be aware of the latest test and simulation development improvements and make recommendations to keep FW Test and Simulation at the cutting edge level.

• You need to be aware of the new FW functionality to help design the proper level unit tests and guide FW Test team to develop corner and error injection cases for this new functionality.

• You need to ensure that FW code test coverage is at the right level to provide high quality code after it has been tested.

• You need to develop a simulation design and implementation plan to deliver a register accurate and deterministic simulator that can easily be used by the FW developers as well as the FW tests to test the code at such levels as to deliver a FW code set with very few bugs when it is tested on the real hardware.

• As our Test Architect, you must develop a test script development plan for the simulator that ensures the FW code is tested as close to 100% code coverage as possible.



Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

• To develop test strategies for testing SSD firmware under simulation or hardware platforms

• Oversee the development/procurement of test systems and simulation environments

• To assist and oversee the development of test plans for each SSD under development

• To work with and guide test teams in a global organization on the execution of their test plans

• To work with and guide FW development teams in a global organization on the design of their unit test plans


 Education & Experience Necessary for Success

• BS / MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical leadership position in a test organization

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience Extensive experience in SSD testing, driving test technology and validation

• Experience with specifying and evaluating internal and external test systems

• Experience developing corner case test plans and automated test result logs processing

• Experience using simulations and virtual environments for firmware testing

• Experience with designing and implementing register accurate and deterministic FW test simulators

• Experience working within a firmware development organization championing continuous integration and test driven development

• Ability to develop test suites, and mentor and coach other test engineers. Familiar with best test practices.

• Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them

• Experience with test automation infrastructure

• Experience with test result analysis, failure duplication, and determining failure source

• Knowledge of Agile development philosophy

• Strong software/firmware engineering background

• Knowledge of C, Python and embedded firmware tools and techniques

• Capable of staying informed of the latest technical advances in simulation and test development and providing recommendations for future test and simulation activity to ensure state of the art capabilities.

• Willingness to travel

• Good communication skills in English
