This position is for a key role within the Hardware Engineering team for Marvell’s best in class ThunderX 64-bit ARMv8 Server Processor family.  The ThunderX product family offers an unprecedented level of integration and industry leading SoC performance designed to accelerate adoption for Arm servers in mainstream cloud and high performance computing deployments.

 

Responsibilities: 

·   Drive Platform Engineering organization to develop ARM server validation/reference platforms, enable ODM and OEM platform enablement and provide hardware design collateral, electrical/power/thermal validation tools and design support to customers. 

·   Lead technical and strategic cross-departmental initiatives. Provide appropriate R&D support for cross-functional teams.

·   Advise senior management regarding the status of projects under development and anticipate, develop new strategic initiatives

·   Identify key gaps in capabilities required for successful platform enablement & develop plans to address the gaps.

·   Attract and build a highly skilled, global development and support team, setting and maintaining high standards in a collaborative team environment. 

·   Identify areas to staff internally vs leverage external partners, develop, prioritize & execute staffing plans for platform engineering team.

·   Prioritize development goals against resource constraints to deliver against the prioritized plans.

·   Define and own overall milestones and product priorities related to schedule, cost and quality.

·   Own the creation of and execution to development and validation plans, test implementation and product support.

·   Develop hardware design collaterals such as product datasheet, reference design and design guidelines, validation tools.

·   Drive fundamental know-how for engineering tasks including component selection, AVL enablement, design reviews of schematic/layout/DFM review and system assembly.

·   Develop strong partnerships with program stakeholders across the organization, development partners, key suppliers of critical commodities.

·   Create, negotiate statement of work, contract and manage development partners.

 

Requirements:

·   Expertise with ASIC/SOC design, validation process and management of ODM/OEM projects on server development.

·   Experience in managing hardware development team and delivering multiple products from concept to production through sustaining.

·   Proven track record of success in delivering complex products on time with low cost & high quality in growth market.

·   Leadership and management skills to effectively collaborate with diverse hardware, software, operations teams and customers.

·   Detailed knowledge of hardware system design, including schematics, signal integrity and power integrity design practices, power/thermal analysis, validation tool, PCB layout, testability, board bring up, and issue resolution.

·   Business savvy; able to think strategically and make intelligent technical vs business trade-off recommendations.

·   Skilled in interfacing with customers, partners and managing joint-development projects.

·   Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. 

·   International orientation with cultural flexibility and available for international traveling.     


Preferred / Plus:

·   Experience with managing server hardware platform development is a plus.

·   Knowledge of PCIe, Ethernet interfaces at all speeds, USB, SATA, and I2C are a plus.

Education:

·   MSEE/BSEE with 15+ years of hardware platform, server design experience
